Obituary of Michael Hennessey

Michael W. Hennessey, 59, residing in Poughkeepsie, NY died Tuesday, July 15, 2014 peacefully at home surrounded by his Husband and beloved schnauzers Dar and Tao. Michael was born to the late Anna May Batt Hennessey in Poughkeepsie, NY on May 27, 1955. Michael married his lifepartner of 20 years, David J. Sutton on June 10, 2012. Michael owned and operated a Horse Farm locally for several years, where he enjoyed one of his life passions of riding and jumping horses. He was competitive toward the US Olympics for Jumpers. After attending Cosmetology School, he became widely known for his outstanding talent as a Hair Stylist. Over the years Michael owned and operated many salons in the area, his most recent salon was Hennessey & Co., before retiring in early 2000's. In retirement Michael enjoyed gardening, Interior Design and frequent trips to Cape Cod where he maintained a second home. Most of all, Michael enjoyed spending quality time at home with loved ones. There he maintained beautiful gardens, cooked, managed the house and made a loving home. Michael had a love of life and enjoyed it to the max with all his friends, clients and family. Michael is survived at home by his husband David and his cherished schnauzers; his sister Lynn Hennessey (Myrtle Beach, SC), his mother-in-law Lois Sutton (Cold Spring, NY) and extended family and friends including many nieces and nephews. Michael was predeceased by his brother Timothy Hennessey. Friends may pay their respects at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603 on Thursday, July 17, 2014 from 4:00-8:00pm. Interment will be held on Friday, July 18, 2014 at 11:00am at the Cold Spring Cemetery in Cold Springs, NY. A graveside service will be conducted by Rev. Ralph Merante.
