Obituary of Laurie D. Duncan

On the evening of July 17, 2014, our Laurie passed away after a yearlong battle with cancer. Supported by and surrounded with her precious family, she passed away in the early evening at Vassar Brothers Medical Hospital.Laurie was born in Hudson, N.Y., to Pat and Peggy Dolan in 1957. She was an avid historian with a passion for using today to look back at yesterday by combining technology and genealogy. She was passionate about researching her own historical roots and keeping them alive by sharing it within her family. She was a leader in the local Historical Society and served for 3 years as President of the Millbrook Historical Society. Her passion for books led her to The Millbrook Public Library where she spent previous years working, as well as holding introduction computer classes.She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Keith Duncan of Pleasant Valley, NY., her daughter Crystal Nicole Duncan and her fiancé Chris Barry of Orlando, FL, her son Andrew Patrick Duncan and his girl friend Jessica Schnell, of Orlando, FL., her sister Mary Ellen Starnes, of Orlando, FL. and Several nieces and nephews and many in-laws.Calling hours will be held Tuesday July 22, 2014 from 4pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603.
