Obituary of Frances Philipbar

Frances C. Philipbar, 90, of Salt Point, NY, died Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Born on June 1, 1924 in Poughkeepsie, NY, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Julia Sherow Cromwell. Frances was a graduate of Arlington High School. On July 11, 1942 she married John Frederick Philipbar at St. Joseph's Church in Millbrook, NY. John predeceased her on November 28, 1988. Frances worked for T.J. Philipbar Well Drilling in Pleasant Valley and she also worked at the Fountains in Millbrook as a receptionist until the age of 86. She was a past President of the Pleasant Valley P.T.A., a member of the Pleasant Valley Library and a past den leader in the Cub Scouts. Frances is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law; David Allen and Rita A. Philipbar of Salt Point and Michael John and Paula A. Philipbar also of Salt Point. Also surviving are her grandchildren; D. Patrick Philipbar and his wife Elizabeth W. of Poughkeepsie, Justin A. Philipbar and his wife Kerri D. of Brunswick, GA, John F. Philipbar II and his wife Jill D. of Glenham, NY, Mallory M. Philipbar and Hillary A. Philipbar, both of Salt Point, as well as her great-grandchildren, Emma F. Philipbar, Brooke Dennin, Ted Philipbar, Zackary Philipbar, John F. Philipbar, III, Aidan G. Philipbar and Brady M. Philipbar. Her sister Jean Murphy also survives in Salt Point. In addition to her parents and her husband, Frances was predeceased by her brother Richard Cromwell. Calling hours will be held on Friday July 25, 2014 from 5:00-8:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday July 26, 2014 at 9;30am at St. Joseph's Church in Millbrook, NY.
