Obituary of Nancy Ward

Nancy J. Ward, age 87, of Poughkeepsie, died Monday, August 18, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center Poughkeepsie, NY. Nancy was born July 28, 1927 in Poughkeepsie, NY. She is the daughter of the late Hull G. and the late Zora B. (Smith) Way. She married Richard C. Ward on October 10, 1954 in Rhinebeck, New York. She was employed by Vassar Brothers Medical Center as a Bookkeeper in the Oncology Department. Nancy was previously the owner of Fernbrook Farms Inc.. Nancy was a local resident all her life and a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School. Nancy loved her family, she enjoyed when everyone was together She is survived by her husband: Richard C. Ward of Poughkeepsie, NY ; daughter and son In-law, Velvet A. and William McCausland of Queensbury, NY; daughter and son In-law, Lee and Raymond Zajkowski of Somerset Kentucky; grandchildren, Kerri Moccio, Erik Schlimmer, Krista Zajkowski, Ian Zajkowski; great grandchildren, Abbie Moccio, Sophie Moccio, Alexa Zajkowski and Elizabeth Zajkowski. Nancy was also predeceased by her brother, Hull G. Way in 1974. Calling hours will be Thursday, August 21, 2014 from 10am to 12pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. The funeral service will follow calling hours at 12:00 pm. Burial will be in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, New York.
