Obituary of Diane Fontanella

Diana M. Fontanella, 83, of Poughkeepsie, NY died Friday, August 22, 2014 at home. Born in New York City on May 22, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Armando and Elida (Gambella) DiGregorio. She had been a local resident since 1954 and was previously of Brooklyn, NY. Diana married John Frank Fontanella on April 25, 1954 in Brooklyn, NY and he predeceased her on February 27, 2008. Diana had worked as a legal secretary for the attorney Len Klein. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church and had been a past member of the Italian Center Ladies Auxiliary. Diane was an avid reader, she looked forward to seeing Bill from the Library come delivering her books every week. She enjoyed traveling with John across America and Europe. While watching TV she always said " I have been there". Diana is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Eugene and Kathy Fontanella of Poughkeepsie, her son-in-law Joseph Strang of Poughkeepsie and grandchildren Gene, Jr. and his wife Eileen Fontanella, Danielle Fontanella, Alexander Piatek Joseph, Brennen, Elida, and Owen Strang. She is also survived by two great grandchildren Kate and Sean Fontanella. In addition to her husband, Diana was predeceased by her daughter, Stacey Strang on November 26, 2013. Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 25, 2014 from 4:00-8:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 10:00am at Holy Trinity Church and burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.
