Obituary of Maria Brunner
Maria (Marlene) Brunner, a local area resident since 1961, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2014, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Cologne, Germany, August 1, 1939 to the late Helen Diermeier Schueller and Leonhard Schueller.
On September 2, 1961, in Cologne Germany, she married Rolf Brunner. Marlene loved to travel within the US and to Europe, was an avid tennis player and loved golfing with family and friends. She was a member of Community Mixed Chorus for many years, current member of IBM Chorus, a member of Holy Trinity knitting ministry, and a member of Orange and Dutchess Garden Clubs. She loved to take summer vacations at Katoki Lodge in the Adirondacks with her children and grandchildren, which were special times that she enjoyed most. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and was dearly loved by all who knew her and who shared her many interests. Her memory will live on through the friendships she nurtured and the hearts she touched.
Marlene was predeceased by her parents, and a daughter Karen Maria Brunner (May 15, 1987). She is survived by her husband Rolf and children, R. Thomas Brunner and wife Mary Theresa of, New Canaan, CT, Kirsten McDonald and husband Patrick of Poughkeepsie, NY, grandchildren, Tara, Kevin, Claire and Megan Brunner, Will McDonald, brother, Hans-Willi Schueller, and sister-in-law, Ursula of, Nittenau, Germany, and nieces and nephews in Munich, Germany, and Edmonton, Canada.
The family will receive friends at the Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY on Thursday evening, October 16, from 4 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 17, 2014, at 10:00 AM in Holy Trinity Church, 775 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, NY. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
