Obituary of Vincent Freni
Vincent L. Freni, 63, of Hyde Park, NY, died peacefully on October 21, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. A local resident for most of his life, Vinny was born in Flushing, NY on November 6, 1950 to the late James and Pasqualina DiFranco Freni. He attended Arlington High School and attended Dutchess Community College. He had also served on the National Guard. On September 15, 1985 he married Toni Turcan in Poughkeepsie and she survives him at home. Vinny was a retired Sergeant at Greenhaven Correctional Facility. Prior to corrections, he worked for the Town of Poughkeepsie Highway Department. After his retirement, Vinny worked at the Dutchess County Fair, the Board of Elections and Malloy Pharmacy. Vinny was a member of the Washington Hollow Rod & Gun Club and was an avid hunter. He loved to travel, especially to Jamaica and he loved to cook and feed his family, garden and he enjoyed his animals. In addition to his wife Toni, Vinny is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Kevin and Dana Conners of Hyde Park, nephew James and his wife Holley Freni of Hyde Park, niece and husband Carolyn and Michael Jandrew of Wappingers, sister-in-law Ann Freni of Poughkeepsie, grand-nephew Jackson Freni, brother-in-law and his wife Charles and Diane Turcan of Georgia, brother-in-law Mark Turcan of Hyde Park, sister-in-law and her companion Dawn Heusinger and Jeff Walter of Poughkeepsie, as well as his niece Ashley Turcan. Additionally Vinny is survived by his grand-puppy Diesel and grand-kitties Shadow and Tigger. In addition to his parents who pre-deceased him, he was also predeceased by his brother Dominick J. Freni. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2014, from 5:00 - 9:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 27, 2014 at 10:00am at Regina Coeli Church and burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
