Obituary of ELIZABETH BUDD

POUGHKEEPSIE, Elizabeth (Betty) Mackey Budd, 92, a native of Poughkeepsie passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at The Pines of Poughkeepsie. Born November 6, 1922 in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of Fred I. Mackey and Adeline Foote Mackey. Mrs. Budd was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School, Class of '41, and graduated from Poughkeepsie Business Institute. On July 15, 1945, she married Donald Wright Budd at the First Congregational Church, Poughkeepsie. He predeceased her in 2007. Betty was employed at the Glens Falls Indemnity Co. in Poughkeepsie and New York City and also Luckey, Waterman, and Heaton Agency. She later was a cashier in the Arlington Central School District. Betty was a kind, gentle woman who devoted her life to her family and friends. She enjoyed painting with watercolors, sewing, cooking, playing games and traveling with Don in the states and throughout Europe. She was a member of the Freedom Plains United Presbyterian Church where she had taught Sunday School for several years. She was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels of Greater Poughkeepsie. Survivors include her three daughters: Diane (Michael) Soyka of Poughkeepsie, Barbara (John) Puccia of Clifton Park, and Sally Del Bene of Millbrook; her seven grandchildren, Kim Soyka-Holt, Christine Soyka, Kathleen Ramcharran, Karen Kochel, Laura Mokrzycki, Bryan and Kevin Del Bene; four great grandchildren; a sister, Jane Wardell, and nieces, nephews, and cousins. A brother Fred I. Mackey, Jr and a sister Nancy M. VanEtten predeceased Betty. A Memorial Service will be held 1pm on Saturday December 20, 2014 at the Freedom Plains United Presbyterian Church Route 55, Lagrangeville, NY. Burial will be private at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
