Obituary of Robert Evans

Robert W. Evans, 80, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on December 24, 2014. Robert " Bob" Evans, a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie NY, was born on May 27, 1934. He married his loving wife Elizabeth Rose Evans on June 25, 1956. Bob was a proud member of the United States Navy, and he honorably served in the Korean War on the Battleship New Jersey as well as the USS Newport News. After a career of over fifty years as a foreman and CDL driver, Bob retired from JC Paper Co. Poughkeepsie, New York. Bob was very proud of his Native American heritage, and was an accomplished hunter and an avid fisherman. He loved nothing more than spending hours fishing with his family and friends, most of whom he had taught how. A kind and compassionate man, Bob was loved and repected by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Bob is survived by his wife of fifty nine years, Elizabeth " Betty " Evans; his son and daughter in-law Robert W. Evans Jr. and Denise Downs; daughter Catherine Evans; brother and sister in-law Leroy and Shirley Evans; sister Caroline Evans; brother Gordon Evans and grandchildren Frank and his wife Yu, Krystie, Spencer, Amir and Idris as well as many nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased in death by his brothers William, Donald, Earl, John, Patrick and Andrew Evans. There will be no services. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Timothy P.
