Obituary of Beverly Hardy

Beverly M. Hardy passed away peacefully on Monday, December 22th, 2014 at the Lutheran Care Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. Bev was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on August 10th, 1923 to Massey and Grace (Smith) Hardy. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII as a radar technician. After the war he earned a B.A.S.C. degree from the University of Toronto. He began his career working for Canadian Ice Machine in several Canadian cities. In 1957 he joined IBM where he was a facilities engineer in Poughkeepsie, Yorktown and San Jose. After retiring in 1986, Bev volunteered his time to Saint Simeon during the construction of senior citizen housing, and to Trout Unlimited, obtaining publlic access rights to trout streams throughout the Hudson Valley. On July 3, 1948 in Ottawa, Canada he married Elizabeth D. Irving, who survives at home. In addition to his wife of 66 years, he is survived by his children Ross Hardy and his wife Kit of Hyde Park, Kathy Hardy of Poughkeepsie, Beth Sulander and her husband Mark of Millinocket,ME, Susan Hardy and her husband Niel Nielsen of Newburgh; his grandchildren Kate Hardy, Graeme Hardy, Justine Hardy, Taylor Sulander, Daniel Kelley and Una Kelley. He was predeceased by his son David Hardy.
