Obituary of Luke Reed

Luke C. Reed, Jr, age 78, of Lagrange, died Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center Poughkeepsie, NY. Luke was born April 15, 1936 in Poughkeepsie, NY. He is the son of the late Luke C. and the late Ellen (Kane) Reed Sr. He married Carol M. Callahan on April 1, 1956 at St. Stanislaus Church Pleasant Valley. He retired from IBM East Fishkill in 1991 where he worked as an Engineer. Luke was a member of St. Mary's Church Poughkeepsie, K of C Council 304, and the IBM Quarter Century Club. Luke was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School class of 1954 and attended the University of Kentucky. He was a local resident all his life. Luke was an avid Gardener and was a Town of Lagrange Police/Court Officer for over 25 years He is survived by his wife: Carol M.(Callahan) Reed of Poughkeepsie, NY, daughter: Patricia Tinker and her husband David Cary, NC; son and daughter in-law, Luke G. and Laura Reed Raleigh, NC; son and daughter in-law, Jeffery A. and Doris Reed Sanford, NC; six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a sister Barbara VanKleeck. Luke was also predeceased by his Sister, Nancy Grey. Calling hours will be held Sunday January 11, 2015 from 3pm to 5pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603 A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30am Monday January 12, 2015 at St. Mary's Church, Church Street, Poughkeepsie, NY.
