Obituary of Saverio Dalia

Saverio John Dalia, 62, passed away Monday, February 9, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Moschiano, Provence of Avellino, Italy on August 28, 1952, Saverio was the son of Sabato and Antonietta Dalia. Saverio was a local resident of Poughkeepsie for 60 years. Saverio and his family owned D.D.'s Pizza in Poughkeepsie, NY. Saverio enjoyed his time there and loved interacting with his customers. Saverio was known to have a big heart. He was a very intelligent and loving person, who enjoyed sharing his knowledge, especially with children. He had a passion for making others smile; he was always quick with a joke. Saverio was also a very proud father who loved all his children dearly. Additionally, Saverio was an avid Giants, Rangers and Yankees fan. He enjoyed reading the New York Post everyday so that he could keep up with his sports. He will be missed by many. Saverio was predeceased in life by his paternal grandparents, Saverio and Filomena Dalia, as well as his maternal grandparents, Domenico and Francesca Volino. Saverio is survived by his children Sabato, Antonietta and Antonio Dalia of Poughkeepsie, NY, and their mother Elena. He is also survived by his parents, Sabato and Antonietta Dalia of Poughkeepsie, NY; his brothers and their wives, Dominic and Michele Dalia of Peekskill, NY, Anthony and Margaret Dalia of Wappingers Falls, NY and Franco and Kelly Dalia of Poughkeepsie, NY; his nieces and nephews, Antonietta, Sabato and Vincenzo Dalia of Peekskill, NY, and Elizabeth, Rachel and Anthony Dalia of Wappingers Falls, NY as well as several beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and great nieces and nephew. Calling hours will take place at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Avenue Poughkeepsie, NY 12603 Thursday, February 12, 2015 from 4pm to 8pm. Funeral services will take place Friday, February 13, 2015 at 11:30am at Mount Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie, NY. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.
