Obituary of Shirley Reiner
Shirley Ann (Barnett) Reiner, a long-time resident of Poughkeepsie NY, died Thursday February 26, 2015 at home surrounded by loved ones.
Shirley was born in Leavittsburg, Ohio, on September 25, 1925 to Ester (Smith) Barnett and James Barnett. She graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in Warren, Ohio.
On September 21, 1946, she married William D. Reiner of Warren, OH. They have two sons, William J. Reiner and Kurt W. Reiner.
Shirley retired from the Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union in 1990 after 18 years.
Retirement provided the opportunity to travel and camp throughout the eastern United States with her husband and family in their motor home. She also enjoyed many hobbies such as needlework, reading mystery stories and ceramic painting with her friends.
Shirley is survived by her husband, William, and two sons and their wives, William and Olga Reiner of New York City and Kurt and Barbara Reiner of Wappingers Falls. She also leaves behind three beloved granddaughters and their husbands, Juliana and Michael McClay of Wappingers Falls, Michelle and Keith Carielli of Wappingers Falls and Kristin and Christopher Graziano of Bradenton, Florida. Shirley also had two great grandchildren, Keegan McClay and Layla Graziano, who affectionately knew her as GiGi.
She is also survived by a sister, Audrey McGee, of Warren OH and a brother, Edward Barnett and his wife Gladys of Champion, OH. Predeceased were her parents and another sister, Theda Evans, all of Warren OH
Calling Hours will be held on Monday March 2, 2015 from 5pm to 7pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home at 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. A memorial service will immediately follow at 7pm.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
