Obituary of Kenneth Lindemann
Kenneth C. Lindemann Sr., 95, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2015 in Poughkeepsie, NY. Ken, as he liked to be called, was a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie but had been residing the last 7 years with family in The Woodlands, TX. He celebrated each day of his life with an enthusiastic spirit and showed great compassion for anyone in need.
Ken was born on October 26, 1919 in Englewood, NJ; he was one of five sons born to the late Frederick and Augusta Hensel Lindemann. He served our country honorably with the US Navy onboard the USS WASP during WWII and was awarded two Purple Hearts.
Ken began working at IBM soon after WWII, climbing to various management positions from 1949-1985, before retiring as Plant Superintendent in Poughkeepsie, NY. While working at IBM, Ken received high praise and recognition for his achievements related to quality.
During his IBM career, Ken was active in many charitable and community programs including the American Heart and Cancer Associations, United Way, and was a volunteer firefighter for 17 years. He loved to golf, travel with his family, and was also an avid skier. Ken was a man of many trades; he built multiple homes and was a skilled plumber and electrician. He enjoyed presenting motivational speeches, developing solutions to everyday problems through innovative projects, and looked forward to church every Sunday morning.
Ken has touched so many of the lives around him, including complete strangers. He was known for his same energetic boast "Excellent!" in response to a simple: "How are you doing today?"
Ken is survived by his wife Marjorie Lindemann, daughters Norma Allen, Ellen Lucca and her husband Ray, Theresa Salzillo and her husband Michael, and his son's Kenneth C. Lindemann and his wife Jill, and Kristain C. Lindemann. Ken was predeceased by his parents, his first wife Ethel and his daughter Jill Rae. Additionally, he is survived by several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
