Obituary of Mary Ellen Carney

Mary Ellen Carney, age 68, of Poughkeepsie, died Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center Poughkeepsie, NY. Mary Ellen was born July 4, 1946 in Yorktown, NY. She is the daughter of the late Frank and the late Harriet (Lewis) Hitchcock Sr. She married Dennis J. Carney on February 14, 1993 in Poughkeepsie, New York. A local resident for over 30 years she was previously from Carmel, New York. Mary Ellen loved to Bowl and was involved in Bowling leagues for many years. She is survived by her husband: Dennis J. Carney , one daughter: Diane Geiger of Poughkeepsie, NY and her companion Howard Van Tassell, four sons: Donald Stevenson of Poughkeepsie, NY, Daniel Stevenson of Poughkeepsie, NY, Kim Carney of Poughkeepsie, NY, Kevin Carney of Poughkeepsie, NY; sister: Susan Booth and two brothers: John Francis Hitchcock, Edward Hitchcock; she is also survived by her grandchildren, Donna, Jessica, William Geiger, Christopher Stevenson and her great granddaughter Rosemary Geiger. Mary Ellen was predeceased by her brother, Frank Hitchcock Jr. A memorial service and visitation will be held 7:00 pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY.
