Obituary of William Kustas
William (Bill) G. Kustas lifetime Poughkeepsie resident, died on Sunday, March 15th, 2015 after a very courageous battle with Parkinsons, surrounded by his loving family. He was 87.
Born in Poughkeepsie on November 23rd 1927, Bill was the son of the late George and Sophia Kustas.
Bill is survived by his wife Celie Callas Kustas of 60 wonderful years, his daughter Marta Normann and husband Einar of Highland, grandsons Josh, Chris and Kyle and 4 great grandchildren, sister-in law Callie Kustas, niece Sophia Smith, nephew George N. Kustas, niece Marisa Wolpert, niece Samantha Fetter, cousin Bea Kustas, several more nieces, nephews, cousins and a much loved extended family of friends. His family would like to thank all the many special doctors and nurses who helped Bill through the years, especially Dr. Tom Robinson.
He was predeceased by his Son, George W. Kustas, Sister, Edna Pavlis and Brother, Nicholas Kustas.
Bill graduated from Syracuse University in 1950. He went on to work at IBM for 32 years and retired in 1990. He was past president of Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church. He loved to play golf (he even celebrated a hole in one) and travel with his wife, family and friends. He was an avid reader, enjoyed going out to dinner, and watching sports, especially the Rangers and Jets.
Visitation is Friday, March 20th, 2015 4:00-8:00pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY.
Funeral will be Saturday, March 21st, 2015 10:00am at Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church, 140 South Grand Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY.
Burial will follow the Funeral at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, 342 South Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY.
