Obituary of ELVIRA FLORIO

Elvira Lauria Florio was born to Giuseppe (Joe) Lauria and Rosaria (Sadie) Cilia Lauria on March 22, 1931. She passed away at Vassar Brothers Hospital on March 18, 2015 after a short illness. Vera was born in Manhattan and moved to Staten Island at the age of 9. In 1950 at the age of 19, she married Mauro (Sonny) Florio, next month the couple would have been celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary. Vera was retired from the New York Telephone Company. The couple moved from Staten Island to Poughkeepsie in October of 2005 and resided in the Gables where they made a lot of close friends. Vera is survived by her husband Sonny, her daughter Claire and her husband Robert Sullivan, her son Nicholas Florio and his fiance Katherine Rinaudo. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Tina Deppe, Maria DeMartino, Laura Criscione, Nicholas Florio and four great grandchildren, Marina DeMartino, Olivia Deppe, Alexandra Deppe and Leah Criscione. Vera is also survived by her sister Jennie Lauria Henry and her nephew Robert Henry and his wife Lois and their two daughters Lauren and Katie. There will be a memorial service for Vera on Tuesday March 24, 2015 at 6pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603.
