Obituary of Rosalie Stanford
Rosalie Stanford, 91, of Highland passed away on March 22, 2015 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
She was born in Walkersville, WV on December 5, 1923, the daughter of Audrey and Garnett Armstrong. She graduated from Walkersville High School in 1941 and attended Salem Business College.
She met and married her husband Raymond at Clark Controller Company in Ohio in 1944. Rosalie and Ray experienced many moves with their family over several states while Ray worked for Radio Stations and lastly with IBM. They were married for 65 years.
Rosalie and Ray retired from IBM Poughkeepsie in the early 1980's, moving to Tennessee. Rosalie resumed working as a Hardware Clerk for Sears and Roebuck for over 20 years, retiring at age 83. Rosalie was known for her Roses, Holiday fudge and her care and concern for those many friends and relatives in her life.
She was predeceased by her parents Audrey and Garnett Armstrong, brother William Armstrong, husband Raymond Stanford and her daughter Rhonda Decker. Survivors include her son and his wife Robert and Suzanne Stanford of Stormville, NY, her daughter and her husband Rebecca and Edmund Hopper of Highland, NY and her son-in-law and his wife Joseph and Nelline Decker. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren; Tina Hoffman, James Stanford, David Stillwell, Stacey Mohammed, Melinda Benanti, Kari Fletcher, Devin Stanford, David Seymour, Rebecca Decker and Amanda Decker. Also surviving are 13 great-grandchildren; Nick, Andrew, Alexis, Aliyah, Dalton, Brandon, Jordan, Sophia, Ethan, Luca, Benjamin, Makenna, Victoria and Braeden.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 27, 2015 from 6:00-8:00pm at the Higgins Funeral Home of Benton, 6439 Hwy. 411, Benton, TN 37307. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 10:00am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Benton Memorial Gardens.
