Obituary of Helen Kelsey

Helen F. Kelsey, age 91, of Pleasant Valley, died Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center Poughkeepsie, NY. Helen was born March 4, 1924 in Lagrange, NY. She is the daughter of the late Harry and the late Ethel (Nichel) Franz. Helen was married to David P. Carroll at the Pleasant Valley Episcopal Church, he predeceased her in 1982. Helen was remarried to Louis Kelsey at St Mary's Church in Poughkeepsie he also predeceased her in 2001. She was employed by IBM Poughkeepsie. Helen was also a waitress at the Country Tavern and Talbots. She was a local resident all her life. A member of Valley Stream Neighbors Home Bureau and member, past Trustee and Deacon of the Pleasant Valley Presbyterian Church. Helen loved to do crafts, knitting and quilting. She is survived by one son: David S. and Joan Carroll of Poughkeepsie, NY; she also is survived by five grandchildren, David E. Carroll, Stephanie Miller and her husband Charles, Kimberly Getz, Kathleen Moonan and her husband Terry and Michael Scotti. Helen is also survived by her great grandchildren, Hunter B. Miller, Mackenzie L. Miller, Ryan Moonan, Courtney Moonan, Brett Getz, Kyle Getz and her brother and sister In-law, Robert and Joan Franz of Port Orange, FLA. and many nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her daughter, Barbara Ann Scotti, brother Henry Franz and grandson, Stephen Jeffery. Calling hours will be held Friday April 3, 2015 from 2pm to 6pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603. The funeral services will be held 10:00 am on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY with Rev. Shawn R. Zanicky officiating. Burial will be in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie New York.
