Obituary of James Pelton

James G. Pelton, Jr., age 42, of Poughkeepsie, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 25, 2015. James was born on October 29, 1972 in Poughkeepsie, and was a local resident all of his life. In 1994 he married Karen M. Townsend. James graduated from Arlington High School. He was a proud member of Local 21 Plumbers and Steam Fitters Union in Peekskill, NY. Most recently James, known to his Union family as "Porkchop", was employed as a contactor at Global Foundries in Malta, NY. James was credited with restarting Cub Scout Pack 10 in Poughkeepsie in 2009 where he served as Cubmaster for several years. He enjoyed camping and geocaching with his children and was an avid Chicago Bears fan. James is survived by his wife Karen M.(Townsend) Pelton of Poughkeepsie, children Cora and Tobey Pelton of Poughkeepsie, father James G. Pelton of Pleasant Valley, mother Judith Sutton and sister Gina Pierre Louis of Oklahoma, many Aunts, Uncles and cousins, and his father and mother In-law Thomas A. and Antoinette Townsend also of Poughkeepsie. Calling hours will be Monday, April 6 from 4pm to 7pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. A service of remembrance will follow at 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the DCSPCA or the Boys Scouts of America Dutchess District Council campership fund in his name.
