Obituary of Joseph Cruz
Joseph M. " Joey" Cruz, age 29, of Poughkeepsie, died Monday, April 20, 2015 at his home in Poughkeepsie. Joey was born April 28, 1985 in Port Chester, NY. He is the son of Adrian and Kathleen (Bogan) Cruz. He married Tara Simpson on October 4, 2014 at Diamond Mills Saugerties, NY.
He was employed by Arlington Fire District as a Fire Fighter and previously worked at Castle Point VA Health Care as a Fire Fighter.
Joey was a member of Arlington Professional Fire Fighters Local 2393, SW Johnson Fire Department in Wappingers Falls, NY. He was a local resident all his life. Joey was a graduate of Roy C. Ketcham High School, he attended Buffalo University and Dutchess Community College.
Joey was a big Buffalo Bills and Islanders Fan. He enjoyed smoking cigars and listening to all different music. Joey loved bonfires,barbequing and being around family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife Tara Cruz of Poughkeepsie, NY., loving daughter Emma Isobel Cruz of Poughkeepsie, NY; proud parents Adrian and Kathleen (Bogan) Cruz of Poughkeepsie, NY., big brother Adrian Cruz III of Tampa, FL; little sister Lisa Champion and her husband Patrick Champion of Poughkeepsie, NY; Grandmother's, Irene B. Cruz of Puerto Rico; Isobel Bogan of Wappingers, NY. and his beloved adopted dog Harley. Joey is also survived by his aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Calling hours will be Saturday, April 25, 2015 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. A service will take place at 8:30pm following the visitation. Burial will be Private and at the convenience of the family.
