Dear Donahue family, We want to let you know how shocked and saddened we were to hear the news of Dan's passing. We extend our heartfelt sympathy especially to Gabrielle and Samantha. Your father loved you both so much and was so proud of you. You are his greatest achievement. We hope as time passes, you will remember only his love for you. When you listen to his music, may it help to ease the sadness in your hearts. Dan was a wonderful songwriter and musician and he leaves his music as his legacy to you. Please know that there are those who will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers each day. We send all of Dan's family our heartfelt condolences. With deepest sympathy, Stephen and Michelle Puletz

My Godson, Daniel Demetrius Kahlil Crumby-Bey Donahue - Dee, as he was often known, was born to my dearest friend, Frances "Gigi" Donahue on December 7th 1973 while living in Provincetown, Massachusetts where he spent the first several years of his life. He was raised primarily upstate New York with some time in Long Island.
A talented musician, (his father, Kasper Crumby-Bey was a renowned Jazz Bassist who played with Nina Simone, Sarah Vaugn and many others) Dee started playing guitar at an early age and formed his first band while in his early teens. His current band - known to many in the Dutchess and Ulster county music scene- was called "Goodbye January" (a tribute to his late mother whose untimely death was in the month of January) of which he was lead vocalist, lead guitarist and composer of all the songs - which tell his story of "a ray of hope through life's heart breaking and tragic moments."
But his talent didn't end with music. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Dee was a well-respected chief - both upstate and in Brooklyn, N.Y. - delighting taste-buds with his lovingly prepared creations for more than 20 years.
His life and legacy continue with his two beloved daughters, Gabrielle and Samantha Donahue. He will also always live in the hearts of those of us who love him including nephew, Corey "Bari" Donahue;loving Aunts and Uncles-Betty Potenza; JoEllen Donahue; Jerry, George and Danny Donahue and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews; his ex wife, Emily Donahue; his girl-friend Amanda O'Neill and his God-Mother Sally O'Brien and a huge extended family.
Fly free and happy Demetrius - Peace and joy in your eternity!!

Dear Donahue family - please know that i grieve with you...As you know, i knew Dee from the very instant he came into this world and helped raise him - as did all of us at different times in his life.. i send love and light to you all - and to his partner and all those friends and extended family that feel his loss. Dee made an impact on all of us - His bright smile, sometimes ironic sense of humor and that Irish melancholy that permeated his songs. And, in times of happiness, his ability to give abundantly of warmth and love. i share with you this tremendous sadness - hoping and waiting for the heaviness to lift and give way to cherished memories. i am here for you and will always be your family. love and light, sally
