It was my honor to know Bob and work with him on his charitable goals. He was a smart, funny, caring and compassionate soul who worked hard to make Poughkeepsie a better place to live. It was apparent how much he loved his family and his REAL Skills family. I feel lucky to have known him and express my deepest sympathies to his family and all who will miss him.

To Bonnie, family and friends, Truly an amazing man. Often think about sponsoring his ballon, sending 2 of my sons up with him and wondering if I would ever see them again. I did, and still think about the exciting experience, as his entire life was. He certainly was a class act.

Bob was a man to be admired. Intelligent, kind and a man who lived his life with passion. Through the Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley we met and became friends and I got to see first hand that Bob cared. He cared about kids, he cared about our community and he cared about his family. We are richer for having had Bob in our lives and poorer now that he is gone. Fortunately Bob was a man who's deeds will make his impact felt for years to come. My condolences to Bonnie, his family and all who knew him.

Bob lived a full life, but all too short. He trucked on to the very end. He will be missed by family, friends, tennis buddies, and the REAL Skills Network and other community charities.

I consider it my good fortune to have crossed paths with Bob during my years at IBM and post retirement. We not only worked on projects together but shared thoughts, values and experiences outside the realm of the corporate world. Just about any time we would meet forlunch during our working years and afterwards or any other celeberatory event, the conversation would eventually be about our families and their activities.(and his travels, of course) And there would always be photographs!! He was always interested in knowing about the activities of our children. As Bob passes through those "pearly gates", he is sure to hear "Well done, Robert"

Bob Auchincloss was my teacher, my mentor and most importantly, my friend. We first met when Bob was flying his hot air balloon, "Limelight" at the Adirondack Hot air Balloon Festival. I crewed for him in several festivals and my wife, Sue, and I had our first flight with Bob. Later, Judy Cubbins (now Edmunds) and I bought the hot air balloon, "Sybarite", from Bob and became student pilots under his tutelage. With his expertise as a balloonist and instructor I eventually became a private and then commercial balloon pilot. It seemed so natural to invite Bob to be my Crew Chief when I was invited to participate as a Fiesta Pilot at the Hot Air Balloon Championships in Saga City, Japan. This proved to be one of the most memorable events in my life and I am so glad that I was able to share it with Bob. I am now teaching my Grandsons to become Hot Air Balloon Pilots using the same dedication to knowledge and performance that Bob taught me. Bob's passion for life always impressed upon me that he was a 110 %er. He brought skill, compassion and enthusiasm to every event we shared. Fly high, my friend! You are already missed, but your legacy lives on in the lives of those of us you touched.
