Obituary of Patrick Butler
Patrick "Paddy" Butler, 56, of Poughkeepsie, passed away at home with his family by his side, on August 2, 2015. Patrick was born in Poughkeepsie on October 3, 1958, the son of the late Francis ("Blackie") and Helen Butler. He graduated from FDR High School in 1976 and The Culinary Institute of America in 1978.
Patrick was an incredibly talented Executive Chef who travelled the country with his young family working for several major hotels. Of his many professional accomplishments, he felt extremely privileged to have cooked for several presidents and celebrities. Patrick loved the scenery of the Hudson Valley and New England. He was an adventurous soul; a "quick" trip to the deli could turn into a drive up the Maine coast. His infectious sense of humor made it always fun to be around him. No one was a stranger; he became friends with nearly everyone he met.
Patrick is survived by his children and their spouses, Patrick Jr. and Regina, his daughter Katie and Sharon. In addition, he is survived by a granddaughter Madelynn, and loving siblings Michael and his wife Leslie, and Peggy and her husband Robert Valle, nieces Giorgina Butler and Amanda Hollister, nephew Michael II, Amy and Nicole Alston and a large extended family, and many friends who have adored him through the years.
