Obituary of Robert W. Kanning

Robert W. Kanning, age 92, of Poughkeepsie, died Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at home in Poughkeepsie. Robert was born November 17, 1922 in Bronx, NY. He is the son of the late Arthur and the late Emily Kanning. He married Martha A. Pandolfi on February 15, 1945 at Concordia Lutheran Church. He served in the United States Coast Guard. He was employed by Vassar College as a Plant Superintendent. Robert was a member of the Mid Hudson Gem and Mineral Society. He loved to do Wood Working, collect Gems and Minerals. He is survived by his wife: Martha A.(Pandolfi) Kanning of Poughkeepsie, NY.; daughter and son In-law, Lorraine and John Davy of ILL.; grandchildren, Christopher Quinn, Kelly Quinn, Meghan White and great grandchildren Colin and Sarah. Robert was predeceased by his two sister's and two brothers, Marie Donahue, Agnes Dorn, Arthur Kanning Jr. and William Kanning. Calling hours will be Sunday, August 23, 2015 from 2pm to 5pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. The funeral will be held 10:00 am on Monday, August 24, 2015 at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. Burial will follow at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
