Obituary of Carl Mathews

Carl M. Mathews, Jr., 67, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2015 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. A lifelong resident born in Poughkeepsie on May 15, 1948, Carl was the son of Carl M. and Helen (Weaver) Mathews, Sr. Carl attended Arlington High School. He worked in construction as a machine operator for B&K Construction and did extensive work at the Gables on Salt Point Turnpike. He enjoyed hunting and archery and was a member of the Hudson Valley Sportsmen Association. Carl is survived by his children; Jeff A. (Marie-Elena) Mathews of Hyde Park, NY, Michael D. (Susan) Mathews of Johnstown, NY, Kellie M. Mathews of Hadley, NY and John M. (Honibea) Mathews of Seattle, Washington. Also surviving are his 8 grandchildren , several nieces and nephews, as well has his sisters Elizabeth Taylor of Clarks Summit, PA and Barbara Evans of LaGrange, NY. Carl is also survived by his extended family Janice Cuomo, Star Christy, Janel Cuomo and Shane Cuomo. Carl was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy, in 2009. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2015 from 12:00am to 1:30pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12063. A Funeral Service will be held following visitation at 1:30pm in the funeral home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
