Obituary of George Abadsidis

George Savas Abadsidis, 70, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 29th, at his home in Poughkeepsie, New York. George ("Yiorgos") was born in Athens, Greece to the late Eleftheria and Savas Abadsidis. He was the youngest of three children. George is survived by his loving wife, Regina, his three children, and five grandchildren: son, Savas George Abadsidis of Poughkeepsie, New York; daughter Elena Abadsidis of Jersey City, New Jersey; daughter, Christina Abadsidis-Rinaldi and husband, Thomas Rinaldi, of Cottekill, New York; grandchildren: Alexa, Christina, Michael, Joseph and Mattheos. He is also survived by his brother, Costantinos Abadsidis, of Poughkeepsie, New York, his sister, Eleni Pehlivanis, of Athens, Greece, and his father-in-law, Henry Holtz, of Poughkeepsie, New York - as well as a host of loving in-laws, nieces, and nephews. George was a great chef, working in local restaurants for over 30 years until his retirement. George loved his family and adored his grandchildren, who lovingly referred to him as "Papou". He delighted in always cooking everyone their favorite dishes. He also had a passion for studying history and loved dancing - one of his many talents. George was dearly loved and will be sorely missed. Calling hours will be on Monday, November 2nd, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home at 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A funeral service will be held at 7:30 pm at the funeral home.
