Obituary of Joan Drop

Joan A. Drop, age 82, of Poughkeepsie, died Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Mid Hudson Regional Hospital Poughkeepsie, NY. Joan was born July 29, 1933 in Philadelphia, PA. She is the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Grace (Hatfield) Echelmeier. She married Joseph G. Drop on June 11, 1955 in Philadelphia PA. Joan was a local resident since 1957 previously of Philadelphia, PA. Joan was a graduate of Girls High, School in Philadelphia. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church and also the Holy Trinity Women's Society. Joan loved to golf, bowl and eat ice cream. She was a avid METS Fan and she bowled on the Donut Dunkers Women's Bowling League. Joan's Motto was "Keep Moving, Don't Fall and Laugh Every Day" Joan is survived by her husband: Joseph G. Drop of Poughkeepsie; son Joseph Drop of Bellerose Village Long Island; Deborah Shaffer and her husband Alan of Rhinebeck, NY; son David J. Drop and his wife Kimberly of Poughkeepsie, NY; son Daniel R. Drop and his wife Anne of Durham, CT; daughter Diane Cronin and her husband James of Marlborough, MA and daughter Jennifer Drop of Brooklyn, NY. Joan is also survived by her ten grandchildren; Kimberly, Susan, Stephanie Shaffer, Katlin, Cassidy Drop, Danielle, Jessica, Samantha Drop, Alex and Adam Cronin, her twin brother and his wife Joseph and Sandra Echelmeier of Ben Salem PA; several nieces and nephews and her good friend Chip. Joan was also predeceased by a sister and brother, Grace Cremins and John Echelmeier. Calling hours will be Sunday, November 15, 2015 from 2pm to 6pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 am on Monday, November 16, 2015 at Holy Trinity Church, 775 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, NY. Entombment will be in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, NY.
