Obituary of Nickie Kanaras

Nicoletta ( Nickie) Kanaras, age 92, entered eternal peace on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center with her loving family at her bedside. Born in Skoura, Greece on August 29, 1923, daughter of Aphrodite and James Lines. She immigrated to the United States on March 4, 1954. On May 16, 1954 she married Constantine (Gus) Kanaras. For many years they owned and operated the Piccadilly Restaurant Poughkeepsie, NY. until his untimely death on December 17, 1975. She is preceded in death by her sisters Angelike, Calliope, Joann and her brothers Gus, George and William. She is survived by her daughter and son in-law Patricia and Albert Argibay, son Peter Kanaras, granddaughter Marianna Cordovano and great grandson Carmine J. Cordovano-Angelo and many nieces and nephews. She was a proud member of the Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church. All of her family and friends will have cherished memories of her. Her loved ones will forever be touched by her strength, courage and devotion to her family. Calling hours will be held from 3pm to 8pm on Tuesday November 17, 2015 at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603. Funeral services will be held 10am Wednesday November 18, 2015 at the Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church South Grand Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York.
