Obituary of Louis Wood
Louis David Wood of Lagrangeville, NY died on November 14,2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on June 12, 1940, the son of the late Gertrude and William Wood. On January 31, 1970 he married his love, Carol A. (Overbeck) Wood at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Flatbush, Brooklyn. He is also survived by his daughter Karen and her husband Kevin Burns of Clinton Corners ,NY, his son Michael and his wife Alicia of Millbrook, NY, and his grandchildren Gavin and Jillian Burns and Lucas and Colby Wood. He is also survived by his sister Jerri and her husband Joe Bangs, brother William and wife Kathy, and brother Edward. He was predeceased by his sister Mildred. he is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Judy and Tim Joyner and John Overbeck and many nieces and nephews. He leaves behind many cherished friends, known to some of them as Dave and some as Lou.
Lou proudly served four years in the US Navy and four years in the US Coast Guard during the Vietnam Era and was a member of the American Legion. After his honorable discharge from the Navy and Coast Guard, he worked on the tugboats out of New York Harbor. He was a graduate of Dutchess Community College and Marist College. He was retired from the NYS Department of Corrections and later was a permanent substitute teacher at Dutchess County BOCES. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #275 and a member of Rogers Point Boating Association where he spent many hours enjoying his boat and the beautiful Hudson River.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday November 18,2015 from 4pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home on 371 Hooker Ave Poughkeepsie NY 12603.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am on Thursday November 19, 2015 at St. Joseph's Church Millbrook, New York with Burial to follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Hudson Valley Hero Project.
