Obituary of James Perry
James S. Perry, age 94, of Poughkeepsie, died Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Lutheran Care Center of Poughkeepsie, NY. Mr. Perry was born August 1, 1921 in Poughkeepsie, NY. He is the son of the late Domenico and the late Angelina (Sassone) Piraino. He married Hazel H. Mosher on December 16, 1945 at Our Lady Of Mount Carmel.
He served in the Navy during World War II on the USS Missouri. He was a retired employee of the Delaval Separator Poughkeepsie, NY where he worked as a Tool and Dye Maker.
James was a member of American Legion Post 1302, Poughkeepsie Seniors Softball League and the Table Tennis Group were he was a previous Champ. James was also involved with the Senior Games in Newburgh. James enjoyed playing tennis, roller skating and bocce.
He is survived by his wife: Hazel H(Mosher) Perry of Poughkeepsie, NY., daughter: Bernadette H. Perry of Wappingers, NY., son: James D. and Carol Perry of Hyde Park, NY; sister: Edith Bracone of Florida., two brothers: Dominic Piraino of Texas. and George Piraino of Poughkeepsie, NY; daughter In-law, Rochelle Potenza-Perry of Poughkeepsie, NY., grandchildren: Michael J. Clark and his wife Laura, Danielle E. Hay and three great grandchildren: Owen J., Carli A. and Giana J. Clark. and several nieces and nephews. James was also predeceased by his son, Joseph Vincent Perry.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, December 16, 2015 from 6pm to 8pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Church, Mount Carmel Place, Poughkeepsie, NY. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
