Obituary of William Yamen

William J. Yamen, age 78, of Poughkeepsie, died Thursday, December 17, 2015 at home in Poughkeepsie. William was born September 21, 1937 in Poughkeepsie, NY. He is the son of the late Michael and the late Mary (Abdoo) Yamen. He served in the United States Army. As a young man Bill worked in the family grocery store on Market Street in Poughkeepsie and also at his parents Coffee shop in Clearwater Florida. In the 1960's and 1970's Bill and his Mom ran Yamen's Grocery Store in the Town of Poughkeepsie. He was also employed by M. Shwartz & Co. Poughkeepsie, New York and at Seamen's Furniture. Bill loved living in Florida and spending his time fishing and Kayaking He is survived by his two sons Michael J. Yamen of Poughkeepsie, NY., and David Yamen of California. He is also survived by several cousins. A graveside service will be held 11:00 am on Monday, December 28, 2015 at St. Peters Cemetery, Salt Point Turnpike, Poughkeepsie, NY with Military Honors.
