Obituary of John Zipser

John A. Zipser, Jr., 87, of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Wingate @ Ulster. Born in Bronx, NY on December 20, 1928, he was the son of the late John A. and Ann Zipser, Sr. He was a 9 year local resident, previously of Deer Park, LI. John attended NYU and served in the U.S. Army. On September 19, 1955 he married Muriel D. Graves in Bronx, NY and she survives him at home. John had worked as an underwriter for Equitable Life Insurance Company. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed golf and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. In addition to his wife, John is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Peter J. and Carrie Zipser, Sr., of LaGrange, NY and his grandchildren; Peter J. Zipser, Jr. "PJ", Andrew J. Zipser and Matthew J. Zipser all of LaGrange, NY. Additionally he is survived by his sister Marion Griffing of St. Augustine, FL and his brother Victor Zipser of Scottsdale, AZ. He was predeceased by his daughter, Barbara Zipser on February 6, 1979. Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 25, 2016 from 4:00-8:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. There will be a Service at 7:00pm during visitation.
