Obituary of Anna Loussedes
Anna Alexander Loussedes, age 84, of Poughkeepsie, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Medical Hospital.
Anna was born on June 6, 1931 in Manhattan, New York. She is the daughter of the late Mary Caldes, of Lesbos, Greece and Anthony Alexander, of Thessaloniki, Greece. She married husband Sarantos (Sam) Loussedes on September 18, 1955 in Hartford, Connecticut.
Anna was employed by Vassar College for 18 years as a White Angel at the message desk in Lathrop Dormitory. Upon retiring, she enjoyed caring for her grandchildren. Anna was predeceased by her husband Sarantos in June 1976, her brother Alex Alexander, as well as her cousin Artie, who was like a sister to her.
Anna is survived by her beloved sons Peter, Will, Greg and daughter-in-law Andrea all of LaGrangeville, and Wanda of Pekin, IL; sister in-law Penny Bogdanos of Clearwater Fla.; grandchildren P.J. and his wife Molly, Joei, Sam, Dustin and his fiancé Jade, Amber, Anthony, Julianna, Camille; great-granddaughter Rayah, several nieces and nephews, God-children Despi Stathidis, Jim Skapetis, and many friends.
Anna loved to travel and was an avid reader. After her husband's passing, she bravely raised her three boys, who were always the center of her existence. Anna was a devoted mother, loving grandmother, and caring friend; she was always quick-witted and willing to help others. Anna is loved by many and she will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Calling hours will be held Monday, February 1, 2016 from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home—371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
The funeral will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Kimisis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church—140 South Grand Avenue, Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Burial will follow at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
