He was an employee of IBM for 30 years from 1963 to 1993.
James loved to work with wood building furniture, tend to his multiple gardens and repair antique clocks. His favorite place on earth was his beach cottage on Humarock Beach in Scituate, Massachusetts, built by his grandfather in 1940. James spent summers there as a child. Later in life, he lovingly maintained the cottage and loved walking the beach collecting buoys and rocks. Wherever in the world he was, he loved greeting the day with "It's a beautiful day in Humarock!"
