Obituary of Roy Lucas

Roy G. Lucas, Sr., age 74, of Poughkeepsie, died Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center Poughkeepsie, NY. Roy was born April 29, 1941 in Poughkeepsie, NY. He is the son of the late Charles E. and the late Olga (Verven) Lucas Sr.. He married Barbara A. Burgess, she predeceased him on March 13, 2001. Roy was employed by Valeries Trucking as a Driver. Roy was a member of American Legion Post 1302, Moose Club, Poughkeepsie Elks#275, VFW Post 170 and the Firemen's Exempt.. Roy Loved Boating, Golfing, Bowling and Fishing. He was also a great mechanic and loved working on cars. Roy also had his Captains License to charter boats weighing over 200 tons. He is survived by one daughter and son in-law Heather and Matt Milne of Poughkeepsie, NY; grandchildren Kiana " Goobie " Gifft and Kascym " Squirt " London; brother Edwin Caswell of Virginia Beach VA.; sister Grace Ferrari of Lagrange, NY.; brother and sister in-law Charles 'Chuck' and Judy Lucas of Myrtle Beach SC. and several nieces and nephews. Roy was predeceased by his son Roy "Tiger" G. Lucas Jr., brother Brad Lucas and brpther in-law George Ferrari. Calling hours will be Tuesday, February 9, 2016 from 4pm to 8pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 am on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Holy Trinity Church, 775 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, NY. Entombment will be in at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, NY on Wednesday, February 10 at .
