Obituary of Lynn Elliott

Lynn (Lena) M. Elliott, 76, a resident of The Gables in Poughkeepsie since 2005 and formerly Wappingers Falls, NY, died peacefully in her home the morning of Wednesday, February 10, 2016.Born and raised in Madawaska, ME, Lynn (Lena) M. Thibeault met and married her husband, Robert M. Elliott on 1/25/1956. The young couple transferred with IBM to Lexington, KY, before returning to settle and raise their family in Dutchess County in 1964. Lynn was employed at Oak Grove School, Wappingers Central School District, until she retired in 1991. Lynn was warm and friendly and loved by all she met - she loved to cook, travel and craft blankets and embroider pieces. The door was always open and there was always enough food and chairs for unexpected visitors at dinner time. We were all blessed to have her in our lives.Lynn is predeceased by her husband, Robert M. Elliott, and survived by her daughter, Denise Elliott-Wood of Somers, NY; her son, Peter Elliott and his wife, Alicia, of Raleigh, NC; and daughter Ruth Bottomley of Corpus Christi, TX. She also has six grandchildren: Caitlin, Matthew, Jason, Rebecca, Michael and Evan; and two great grand-children, William and Alaina. Lynn's surviving siblings include Fern and her husband Dave Bouchard of MA; Richard and his wife Carol Thibeault of PA, and Lourdes Casaza of Madawaska, ME., and many nieces, nephews and grand-niece and grand-nephews.She was also loved and survived by 3 sister-in-laws, Elizabeth McAneny of Greenville, NY and Edna Elliott of Mechanicsville, VA., Marguerite Elliot and many nieces and nephews and their children - her second family. Calling hours are 1-4PM on Sun., 2/14, at Timothy Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM on Mon.,2/15, at Holy Trinity Church, 775 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, NY, followed by burial at the Greenville Cemetery with her husband in Greenville, NY.Contributions may be made to the Hudson Valley Hospice, Dutchess Division, 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601
