Obituary of Thomas Papamitoukas
Poughkeepsie- Thomas P. Papamitoukas, 75 of Poughkeepsie NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Saturday, February 6th 2016 at Vassar Brothers Hospital. Born July 7, 1940 in Nigrita/Serres, Greece and son to Panagiotis T. Papamitoukas and Maria Dimitriou Papamitoukas.In pursuit of his American Dream, Thomas immigrated to the United States in 1972 and settled in Poughkeepsie NY.
On May 23rd, 1976, he married Andriana Maroulis at Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church and had two sons Peter and Anthony Papamitoukas.Thomas owned and operated Macedonia Deli-Restaurant, located in Poughkeepsie with his wife for 10 years. He was the founder of TPP General & Electrical Contractors, also located in Poughkeepsie, in which his sons continue to own and operate today. He was a member of the Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church, in which he involved himself with the parish council, operations committee, numerous youth groups and volunteered his craft as an electrician for both his church and the Hellenic Festival for over 30 years.Thomas was an epitome of a dedicated family man. He loved music, dancing, gardening, and mostly enjoying life with his family and friends.
Thomas was preceded by his brother Basil T. Papamitoukas of Thessaloniki, Greece. He is survived by his beloved wife Andriana M. Papamitoukas; son Peter T. Papamitoukas, son Anthony T. Papamitoukas along with fiancé Melissa Maiorana and cherished grandaughter Andriana Louise Papamitoukas; sister Anna Papamitoukas, Thessaloniki, Greece; nephew and niece Panagiotis and Emi Papamitoukas, Thessaloniki, Greece; along with numerous loved cousins, nephews, nieces, godchildren & adored family friends (and their families) in which he had always considered family to him.
Calling hours will be Thursday February 11th 2016 from 5pm-8pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.
Church Services will be held February 12th, 2016 beginning at 10am at Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church, 140 S. Grand Ave. Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Interment will follow to Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. Memorial Contributions are welcome at Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church, 140 S. Grand Ave. Poughkeepsie.
