Obituary of Jacqueline Clifford

Our hearts are saddened with the passing of Jacqueline Ann Clifford on February 15, 2016. She died at home after a short illness. She was surrounded by family at the time. Jackie was born on October 27, 1939 to Joseph and Hilda McCormack of Poughkeepsie. On November 26, 1960, she married the love of her life, the man she "HAD to have," James V. Clifford, Jr. Her loving parents, her brother, Joseph, and her husband, James, were waiting for her at heaven's gate. Jackie graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing as a registered nurse. She worked at St. Francis Hospital before starting the family that she and James both deeply wanted. She continued her work there after her children were grown. She is survived by her three children: Jennifer M. Clifford, Atlanta, GA; Joseph S. Clifford, Sr., Poughkeepsie, NY; and James V. Clifford III and his wife, Doreen, Poughkeepsie, NY. Jackie also lives on in the hearts of her two grandchildren, Joseph S. Clifford, Jr. and Grace Clifford, the two stars that twinkled in her eyes. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara and her husband Richard Lewis, Poughkeepsie; her sister in law, Marianne McCormack, Clinton, NY; and her brothers in law and sisters in law, Richard and Antoinette Clifford and Mary Ann and Robert Tuttle. Jackie was blessed with many nieces and nephews and loving friends, too numerous to count. She was frequently referred to as an angel. We believe this to be true. She was one of the most loving, selfless, and caring women we had the honor of knowing. It will be difficult for all who knew her to imagine life without her. We are so grateful for Hudson Valley Hospice who helped make Jackie's wish to come home a reality. The funeral will be Monday, February 22, 2016 at 10AM at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel, entrance at 99 Inwood Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY.
