Obituary of Carl Davis
Carl Lawrence Davis departed this life, on Saturday February 13, 2016. He was a husband to Frances Marie Davis for 43 years and from that union were born Jason, and Christina Davis
Carl served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from Jan 13, 1969 -January 13, 1973
He served in the Southeast Republic of Vietnam September 1969 - October 1970 and upon re-entry to the United States after serving two consecutive tours in Vietnam, he was stationed at Cherry Point, NC October 1970 - January 1973
He obtained the Rank of Sergeant prior to separation of service. He was promoted from working Reconnaissance Patrol to Aerial Photographer. He came home to work first as a NYC Taxi cab driver
He then worked in (Department of Corrections), as a DOC Correction Officer and subsequently promoted to the Head of the Employees Assistance Program. He was charged to help state employees in personal, financial, family and professional moments of crisis. He was a lifelong member of the Fraternal Order of the Feather men.
We remember Carl, as a dutiful Father, Son, Brother, and Friend to all, and was especially devoted to the care of his children and when his daughter Christina was in need of a heart transplant, he and his wife spent two years living out of the hospital to see to her survival and quality of life. He assisted earlier in life in the raising of his four younger brothers and sisters, all of whom are productive members of society, in public service and one in Christian ministry. He was a present daily force in the lives of his family and will be dearly missed.
Calling hours will be held Saturday February 27, 2016 from 12pm to 4pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
