Obituary of Martin MacIsaac
Martin MacIsaac, 85, of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away on Monday, February 29 2016 at the Pines of Poughkeepsie. A lifelong resident, Martin was born on July 29, 1929 in Poughkeepsie to the late John A. and Ellen R. Burke MacIsaac. He was a graduate of Arlington High School and served in the US Army from 1948-50. On March 13, 1951 Martin married Eleanor L. Meeker in Kileen, Texas and she survives him at home. Martin was a 37 year employee of IBM in Poughkeepsie, working as a system analyst, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Arlington Reformed Church, serving as both Deacon and Elder. Additionally, Martin was a coach for the Town of Poughkeepsie Minor League and was the first coach for the Town of Poughkeepsie POP Warner Red Skins. He was also inducted into the Dutchess County Sportsman Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Early Ford V8 Club, Senior Bowling League, the American Legion and the IBM Quarter Century Club. Martin also loved to travel with his wife. In addition to his wife, Eleanor, he is survived by his children; son and daughter-in-law Wayne and Janet MacIsaac of Wappingers, daughter Dawn Kostenko of Lagrangeville, son Roger MacIsaac of Poughkeepsie and daughter Cheryl MacIsaac of Pleasant Valley. Also surviving are his grandchildren; David, Jeffrey, Russell, Bryon, Andrea, John, Amy, Carey, Tyler and Adam, 12 great grandchildren as well as his brother and sister-in-law Edward and Bernice MacIsaac of Poughkeepsie. Martin was predeceased by his grandson Jason, his brothers Daniel, Angus, Harold, Duncan, Francis and Fred and his sisters Shirley Klein, Hazel Racquet, Mary Ellen Schade and Margaret McAmblay. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2016 from 4:00-8:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. The Funeral Service will be Friday, March 4, 2016 at 10:00am in the Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Prentiss officiating. Burial will follow at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery Mausoleum.
