Obituary of Mary Clinton

On March 30, 2016 Mary Elizabeth Clinton, 90 a long time resident of Poughkeepsie, New York passed away peacefully at the Renaissance Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center in Staatsburg, New York after a long illness. She was the youngest daughter of Charles and Rachel Morse born in Hughsonville, New York on January 3, 1926. She graduated from Wappingers Falls School with high honors. She married Harold J. Curran on March 17, 1945 in Wappingers Falls. After 39 wonderful years of marriage Harold passed away on July 26, 1984. Mary married Francis X. Clinton on January 7, 1986 who also predeceased her on February 8, 1994. She had one sister Dorothy Jakon and a brother in-law Frank Jakon who also predeceased her. Mary is survived by her two loving daughters, Mary Jo Curran and her husband Earl Upton and Catherine Ann Duncan and her husband Charles Duncan. Mary was the cherished grandmother of Bradford David Leach and his wife Alice Riley Leach and Shannon Marie Duncan and adoring great grandmother of Douglas Leach. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mary lived a full and satisfying life. Meeting her husband Harold at Handprints while working and then spending her early years raising her two daughters and being involved in St. Mary's Church Poughkeepsie were she was a long time parishioner. Mary went back to work later in life for the YWCA of Poughkeepsie where she worked as a desk secretary and early childhood teacher. Mary learned to drive at the age of 60 and continued her new career at Dutchess Community College in the registrar's office until her retirement of 25 years in 2010.Anyone who had the opportunity to be around Mary Knows she was a gracious and loving person who never had a bad word say about anyone. Mary loved cooking, gardening, traveling and holiday decorating. She had a never-ending love for animals particularly all her cats. mary was the best Mother, Nana, Grammy and GiGi anyone could have and she will be missed dearly. Her Family would like to thank the staff and nurses at the Renaissance Center for their care and compassion during her stay there. Calling hours will be held Friday April 1, 2016 from 4pm to 7pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday April 2, 2016 9am at the Parish of St. Mary's and St. Joseph's 231 Church Street Poughkeepsie, New York. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery Wappingers Falls, New York.
