Obituary of Dorothy Humphrey

We are sad to announce the passing of Dorothy Lorraine Humphrey (Dottie), age 73. She passed in part from a long history of respiratory illness, congestive heart failure, and ultimately because of nursing home negligence. She is survived by her son, Scott Patrick Humphrey of NYC who advocated daily for her proper care while the healthcare system was failing her, her brother Charles (Sonny) Bell of Maryland, and sister Carol Lambert of New Paltz New York. Dottie was born in Yonkers, NY on June 15th 1942 to Charles and Marjorie Bell and was one of 5 siblings. She grew up in Hillside Lake and New Hamburg, and resided in Poughkeepsie for many years with her husband. Retired from the Hudson Valley Psychiatric Center since 1991 she worked there as a skilled nurse caring for geriatric patients. There in 1973 she met and married her husband John (Jack) Humphrey by whom she was predeceased. She will be remembered for her joy, her laughter, her strength, and her generous spirit. Her laughter will always be heard, and her kindness will always be felt by friends and family, as well as the people she met along her way. Friends are welcome to join Scott in celebrating her life at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603 Thursday April 21, 2016 from 5-8 pm. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. If you would like to leave an online condolence please visit www.doylefuneralhome.com
