Obituary of James Cusumano
James Cusumano passed away at the Lutheran Care Center on April 21, 2016 in Poughkeepsie, NY due to Congestive Heart Failure. He was 100 years old.
James was born on August 22, 1915 in New York City. He was married in 1946 to Lillian Wasielewski, together they had a daughter, Barbara in 1947, and son James, in 1950.
James was an engineer who worked at Norden, a division of United Aircraft for approximately 40 years. He was instrumental in the development of the Norden Bombsite which played a huge role in World War II. After retiring in the early 1970's he volunteered for the United States Coast Guard Auxillary, and over the years, became Commander. Dad felt these were the happiest days of his life.
James is survived by his daughter, Barbara, and her children, Lisa, Michael and Robert. His son, James and his children, Jennifer, James, Diana and Tyler. He is also survived by six great grandchildren, Karisa, Joseph, Allison, Sara, Caitlain and Aiden.
James was a kind and gentle man who touched everyone who met him. He always believed "you reap what you show", and lived his life accordingly. James will be truly missed.
Calling Hours will take place Sunday, April 24, 2016 from 4pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc. 371 Hooker Avenue Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.
