Obituary of Barbara Cruger

Barbara J. Cruger, age 87, of Poughkeepsie, died Friday, April 22, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center Poughkeepsie, NY. Barbara was born February 15, 1929 in Chattanooga, TN. She is the daughter of the late Vern and the late Gladys (Seaver) Baker. She married to Thomas J. Cruger for 61 years on June 3, 1950 at St Stanislaus Church Pleasant Valley, New York. Her husband, Thomas J. Cruger predeceased her on November 5, 2011. Barbara was a member of Holy Trinity Church in Poughkeepsie and the Red Oaks Mills Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Barbara loved to do crossword and jumble puzzles and watch TV. She is survived by her daughter Donna M. Miller and her husband Richard of Lagrange, son Michael J. Cruger Sr. and his wife Melanie of Tivoli, her nine grandchildren Julie, Jason, Krista, Casey, Autumn, Ben, Chelsey, Michael Jr. and Heather. Barbara is also survived by 14 great grandchildren and her sister in-law Erma Baker. Barbar is predeceased by her daughter Diane B. Chiavaroli, son Thomas Cruger Jr. granddaughter Donna Marie Miller, brother Kenneth "Joseph" Baker, sister Betty Foley and her step parents Thelma Baker and James Henderson. Calling hours will be Wednesday, April 27, 2016 from 4pm to 8pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Holy Trinity Church, 775 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, NY.
