Obituary of Arline G. Large

Arline G. Large, 97, of Mastic Beach, NY, slipped peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Thursday June 9, 2016. Born in Brooklyn, NY., on July 6, 1918 to the late Charles and Lottie Bahr, she grew up in Rosedale, Queens. She attended Jamaica High School and on February 26, 1938 she married he sweetheart Nicholas P. Large who predeceased her in 1994 after almost 57 years of marriage. Arline is survived by her two daughters and their husbands Gwendolyn and Joseph Fazzina and Marilynn and Richard Shultz with whom she currently had made her home. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren; Janine Van Zwienen, Ray Van Zwienen (Nimfa), Steven Van Zwienen, Denise Berger (T), Daniel Fazzina (Sahani), John Kruse (Sharon), Doug Kruse (Cathleen), Diane Bush (Richard), Jim Turner (Crystal), Brenda Shultz, Richard Shultz (Annie) and thirty great grandchildren, Ryan, Tristan and Geryn Van Zwienen, Christopher and Eric Van Zwienen, Danielle and Matthew Berger, Evangeline Fazzina, Kristin Kruse, Nikki (Evan) Walde, Jordan, Alyssa, Faith, Micah, Abby, Hannah, Jessie and Anjali Kruse, William and Nick Kruse, Zachary, Alex and Liz Bush, Logan and Alania Turner, Mekhi and Lea Shultz, Julia and Joey Shultz. Arline was predeceased by her brother Charles B. Bahr and her loving great grandson RJ Kruse. Mom was a retired sales lady from JJ Newberry's. She was also a tireless volunteer having served as a Girl Scout Leader, Basketball Coach, Election Board Inspector, Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Volunteer, Senior Citizen Club President, Vice President and Secretary, mastic Beach Property Owners Association Board Member and was a Gold Card holder from the MBPOA. She loved teaching children how to fish and spent endless hours untangling their lines. We would like to thank the Hospice of Dutchess County Staff for their kindness and compassion especially, Nurse DeAnne, Aide Sylvia and Music Therapist Terry. Mom always looked forward to her "sing-ins" with you Terry! Thank you to Linda who was a wonderful companion for Mom and Laura our "Angel of Mercy" who helped care for Mom these last six months. We her family will miss her dearly and we know those who knew her will miss her as well. we have been truly blessed to have Mom in our lives for over 75 years. She was a very Special Person. Visitation will be on Wednesday June 15, 2016 from 10am to 11:30am at Our Lady Savior Lutheran Church 1400 Rte 52 Fishkill, NY. with a service immediately following. Visitation will also be on June 16, 2016 at the Roma Funeral Home 539 Wm Floyd Parkway Shirley, NY 11967 from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. Funeral services will take place at 10am on June 17, 2016 at Grace Lutheran Church Mastic Beach NY 11951. Burial will follow at Calverton National Cemetery Calverton NY.
