Obituary of Anthony M. Storzieri
Anthony (Tony) Storzieri, age 80, of Poughkeepsie, died Sunday, August 7, 2016, at Mid Hudson Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Anthony was born July 7, 1936, in Poughkeepsie. He is the son of the late Orazio A. and Louise Storzieri. Anthony served in The US Army during the Korean War. He was a decorated war veteran. Anthony attended City of Poughkeepsie schools and proudly graduated The Culinary Institute of America. He retired from IBM after 20 years of employment. He proudly spent his time volunteering his services at numerous organizations including Wappingers Falls Elks Club BPOE 2609 - past Exalted Ruler, Castle Point VA Hospital, Montrose VA Hospital , Hyde Park Moose Club, Italian Center, VFW Post 170, American Legion, and numerous others. One of his favorite past times was watching the NY Yankees and playing baseball. In the 1970s he founded Tony's Tigers Men's Softball team and went on to win many championships.
His proudest accomplishment was his family. He loved spending time with them. He always stayed involved and never wanted to miss anything.
He is survived by daughter, Cynthia Storzieri Colich and partner, Peter Rozell, son, Derrick and Karen Storzieri, daughter, Kelly Johnson-McDonald and Robert McDonald, daughter, Jamie and Eric Lown, and son, Damien Storzieri; grandchildren Rudy Colich, Joseph and Elizabeth Laboure, Derrick, Jr. and Anthony Storzieri, Emma and Abby Lown, Ramesh, Amanda and Mukesh Ruparelia, and several nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Nicky Storzieri, sister, Mary Grace, brother-in-law, Joseph Hornick, and sister-in-law, Mary Storzieri. Surviving siblings include Michael J. Storzieri, Joseph Storzieri, Mitzi and Gary Rozell.
Our family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Poughkeepsie Dialysis Center and the wonderful staff for all the years they took such excellent care of him.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, August 10, 2016 from 4 pm to 8 pm at Timothy. P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 11, 2016, at 10 am at The Chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary. 185 Hudson View Dr., Poughkeepsie. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery Poughkeepsie, New York.
