Obituary of Matthew Orr

Matthew Alexander Orr, 27, of Poughkeepsie New York, passed away on August 14,2016. Matthew was born at Vassar Hospital Poughkeepsie NY on December 18,1988. He, graduated from Arlington High School and continued on to Ulster Community College for Veterinary Technician. Matthew worked as a Carpenter apprenticeship with Local 279 Carpenters. Matthew was also Worked for Mental Illness and Drug Addiction. He helped many and made a tremendous impact in his short life. He enjoyed playing his guitar playing, being the Goalie for Lacrosse, Constructing Animal Habitats and Ecosystem Aquariums. Matthew is survived by his Paternal Grandmother Barbara Orr, Father Brian E. Orr, Mother Marita A. Orr, brother Brian E. Orr Jr. and His wife Brianna Orr and his Godchild Madison Jane Orr. He was also survived by many Aunts, Uncles, cousins and family friends. Matthew was preceded by his Paternal Grandfather William A. Orr, His Maternal Grandfather Erwin F. Shields jr. and his Maternal Grandmother Dolores G. Shields. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday August 24, 2016 from 5pm to 7pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers~ We are currently creating a "Matthew Alexander Orr Legacy Foundation for Men & Women Struggling with Addiction."
