Obituary of Michael Augello
Michael Thomas Augello, 64, passed away August 22, 2016 at home, in Fishkill, NY after losing his battle with cancer. He was born December 12, 1951 in Ridgewood, NJ to Joseph Richard and Diana Adams Augello. Michael resided in Aspen, CO, but recently relocated to Fishkill, NY to head up a remodeling project for Adams Fairacre Farms in Poughkeepsie. He is survived by his wife, Gladys Martinez Augello and his Step-Son, Gerald DeLisser, Aspen, CO; his Mother Diana Adams Augello in Poughkeepsie, NY; his Brothers and Sisters-in-laws David & Cathy Augello in Poughkeepsie, NY, Peter and Connie Augello in Bethlehem, PA; Nephews Steven Augello in Philadelphia, PA and Brian Augello in Bend, OR; Uncle Donald and Aunt Dale Adams, Aunt Doris Adams and many Cousins. He was predeceased by his older brother Timothy R. Augello, as well as his Uncle Ralph Adams and Aunt Dorothy Adams Anderson.
Michael began his career in the construction industry in 1974 as a residential carpenter. During the 1980s Michael made his home in Newburgh, New York, where he formed his own company that specialized in restoration and renovation of historic buildings. The lure of the Rocky Mountains inspired Michael to relocate to Telluride, Colorado, in the 1990s and he soon came to love the mountain lifestyle. He never tired of describing the beauty of the Rockies and the joy he found in the outdoors while hiking, biking and snowboarding. Michael eventually settled in Aspen, where he became a full partner in Wodehouse-Augello Builders, which focused on building high-end homes with a commitment to green building and energy efficiency. Michael also served as a member of Pitkin County's Planning and Zoning Commission and served as Vice-President of the Roaring Fork Leadership Organization. Periodically, Michael took time out from his other work to oversee new construction and remodeling of stores for Adams Fairacre Farms, his uncles' family business located in New York's Hudson Valley. However, he always looked forward to returning to Colorado, where he and Gladys loved living in their remodeled house with its beautiful views of the mountains and valley.
