Obituary of Margaret Brandt
Margaret Brandt of Poughkeepsie passed away at Vassar Hospital on August 27, 2016, after a brief illness with leukemia. Margaret was born October 25, 1928 to the late Guisuppe and Maria Metrando. Margaret attended St. Mary's School and graduated from FDR High School in 1947. She married the late James J. Brandt on June 14, 1949 at Holy Trinity Church. He predeceased her on December 24, 2005. Margaret is survived by her two daughters, Linda Chamberlain and the late William Chamberlain of Ulster Park, Laurie Bocchino and the late Anthony C. Bocchino, and grandson the late James A. Bocchino of Poughkeepsie. Her great-grandson, James A. Bocchino, Jr. survives at home. Her daughter Janet Swann predeceased her on May 13, 2015 and son-in-law Brent Swann survives at home. She is also survived by her granddaughter Jessica Senatore and her husband Mark and great-granddaughter Margaret Alice. Her great-grandson Vincent Senatore predeceased Margaret, affectionely called G.G., on October 10, 2006. Margaret was predeceased by 8 siblings. She leaves to cherish fond memories by her siblings Andrew Metrando and Susanne Campbell of Poughkeepsie and Diana Urbanski of Walden, NY, as well as many nieces and nephews. Margaret was a former member of the VFW Woman's Auxiliary and a volunteer for Literacy Crisis of America. Margaret had many friends and a caring nature. As a young woman she enjoyed fishing and boating with her husband and girls. She also was an avid Yankee fan, comparing notes with one of her favorite nephews, Jimmy Campbell. Margaret will be missed by everyone, including all her former classmates that met for monthly luncheons. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 from 4:00-8:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 11:00am in the Funeral Home and burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.
